AC Milan are the champions
AC Milan 2 Liverpool 1 was what the score said when the final whistle blew at the Olympic Stadium at Athens. Jubilation! Celebrations ! Disappointment! HeartBreak! A great comeback from Milan nobody could have scripted this (And some say Real Life is boring!)
What can one say in such a situation Liverpool missed a quality finisher. Milan were a tad lucky. Yes many are pointing out how Benitez could have done it differently... But then if liverpool had won then the same people would have showered him with praises.
So how was the game won or lost, Liverpool was certainly the stronger side but the lacked a Rooney or a Michael Owen of the past to see them through. I like Kuyt he is one of the most hard working striker in the business but he is not a prolific scorer and that showed even though he came up with a goal in the game.
Gamble by the Milan coach paid off, Inzaghi scored... twice! He would have been under fire if Milan would have failed to fire in front of goal. At the end of day it was fitting answer to the 2k5 final from Milan to Liverpool.

Man utd. lifts the trophy again
In a sensational last day of the season Sheffield United was relegated and Bolton just managed to take the last place for Eurpean Football, while Liverpool secured the 3rd place after both Liverpool and Arsenal could only manage a draw in their matches.
But there was a celebration party at Old trafford where Man utd lifted the League trophy after a long time while West ham celebrated their win over Man utd. to avoid relegation.

Intresting tid bits of news today on TV and the news paper.
In a incident, one women along with her family and well-wishers ransacked a marriage. Apparently the marriage was of her husband who was marrying under another name.
In a separate incident a "sadhu" was beaten up by a girl and her family members coz he tried to rape the girl earlier in the day. Apparently he ran after she managed to raise a alarm and hid inside the temple. The police has booked the sadhu for attempted rape and the girl for beating and ransacking the place.
What made me noticed the incidents were that they were both reported from semi-urban parts of the country and also the changing face of the Indian woman in these parts. They are actually standing up for themselves and saying if the police/govt. cant protect us we ourselves will. They aren't shy to go after the offenders themselves and give them a taste of justice.
Another thing to notice about the 2 incidents was the role of the media. In both the cases media was present while there was no police to be seen. This sends ot a big message if you want to be noticed and heard go to the media not the police. The police may or may not help you. But once the media is on your side it doesn't matter who is on the other side in Modern India coz soon the whole India would be rallying behind you. Such is the power of media in new age India.

Man utd. are the champions once again.
Chelsea was held to a 1-1 draw by Arsenal at the Emirates stadium which handed the title to the Reds. Sir Alex Ferguson attributed the victory to a great start to the season and ofcourse to the resilience of the players.
Well, there's a FA Final still to go, that would be one hell of a match

If you use the personalised home page feature of Google you might have noticed the new iGoogle logo its sporting.
Google has rechristened its personalised home page product/customisation as iGoogle. I personally really like the personalised home page feature with all those gadgets that can be plugged and with this move I can see many more features coming to my google homepage.
This will probably make sure that most people use Google as their homepage, pretty smatrt and profitable move I would say.

Saw the movie a few days back, nice chance to catch up with some coll pals, grab some chocs from one who had just returned from belgium and yeah watch a movie after a looooong time.
SO how was the movie... My say too long, loose direction, too many loose ends. The movie was primarily targetted at urban crowd and the prime attraction was the NAscar type races they had shown. But alas! if u know anything about races(even cycle races) then dont go for the races. I don't know when in history in a sports race a racer overtook all its competition in the last lap(in a 100 lap race) and movie shows its like easy and shows it repeatedly.
So Saif who doesn't know a thing about racing, hops in a car starts racing and wins each race for 8 yrs continuosly, suddenly one another person who knows how to drive comes up and he crashes him(talk abt healthy competition) sending him out of racing for a year, and so mentally disturbed abt the crash that he loses his speed?????? and starts coming LAST in all races. Somehow, he becomes bankrupt(and i thot these ppl had huge insurance)... blah blah blah, has to come back to track to save his child overcomes his fears and wins and yes.. for good measure crashes the guy who crashed him(whatever happened to the good old benevolent indian hero)
Pros: Initial Rani mukherji looks, wow!, the cute kid, Javed jafferi, some humour in between.
Cons: Bad direction, decent concept not much of a execution.
Worst: The races. WIsh it was that easy.. sigh! For a better race watch "Jo Jeeta wohi sikander" races. Nothing nail biting in the races in this movie.
My recommendation: Chuck the movie and buy the book "It's not about the bike" by Lance Armstrong to read what comebacks are really about.

Man. utd. took a giant leap towards the premiership title this weekend with a 4-2 win while Chelsea was held to 2-2 draw by Bolton.
Once again it looks like the race is over, or is there another twist in this tale?

Top teams falter near the finish line.
Just as it seemed the race to the EPL league title could be decided by a single mistake, we witnessed mistakes by both Man utd. and Chelsea drawing their matches and dropping crucial points. The net effect ... status quo, but we are 1 match closer to the end of the season and to the stanford bridge clash.
Man utd. drew against Middlesbrough 1-1. In what looked like a huge blunder of which Chelsea would take full advantage of.. but it was not meant to be. Chelsea fans witnessed a goal-less draw against Newcastle united in a lacklustre performance by the Chelsea players. New castle had better chances at goal than Chelsea. Looks like fatigue is taking its toll on players.
On the Man utd. side, they conceded a goal only because Ferdinand wasn't able to defend a cross which went through to Mark Viduka who made no mistake. Ferdinand seemed to have aggravated his groin injury in a tackle just before the Middlesbrough goal which might give some sleepless night to Sir Alex Fergusan and the United goalkeeper Van der saar.
All in all, I would say it was a nail biting weekend, with 2 unexpected results. I would guess Man utd. would be happier coming out of the weekend as they still hold the 3 pt. lead and the Goal difference advantage over Chelsea. So lets see who falters next

Hmm, I was in a phone convo with a friend today, who gave a example of the Y2K bug. Basically saying it was a huge dud and only because US said the universe will collapse on year 2000, the world hit the panic button and upgraded their systems.
That sent me into a tizzy, I dont remember thinking it this way, Infact Y2k was such a no incident that i dont even remember thinking about it after year 2000. But now i think or rather I would quote from wikipedia
"Debate continues on Whether the absence of computer failures was the result of the
preparation undertaken or whether the significance of the problem had
been overstated??"
Hmm.. I dont really recall hearing *any* major incident coz of the Y2K bug, Why is that? I cant really believe we were 100% ready!! Somebody must have missed it!
Hell, In most circustances I would believe that while upgrading some of the code might have been left unfixed (quite easy !)
So was all that expenditure and the hoopla only due to a overhyped unfounded rumour?
